Greenwich / Cos Cob
To the west of the Mianus River and based along a sheltered harbor that empties into the Long Island Sound, lies the former small shipping port of Cos Cob. Built up around boatyards and marinas, the area is now a popular base for crew teams, rowing clubs and charter fishing—with charming inland neighborhoods that extend outward from its waterways. The area’s scenic views inspired the Cos Cob Art Colony, a group of impressionists who painted together at the Bush-Holley House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Cos Cob offers accessible real estate options, from landmark historic houses and spacious condos to renovated homes originally built in the ’60s and ’70s. Smaller lots and parcels are typical in this area, and those who put down roots in Cos Cob prize their cohesive community and its diversity. Residents have access to town-wide amenities outside of Cos Cob like Tod’s Point and the public golf club in Backcountry Greenwich. The quaint shops and restaurants in Cos Cob have made the Post Road a favorite destination for residents of all of Greenwich.
